Ask anyone who has worked with me for any length of time. Eventually the fan boy in me will make its way into conversation. As I document and add content to my professional site, you may encounter pop culture references of the sci-fi kind. I hope they resonate with you the reader, but if they don’t then perhaps the sports, poker, movie or historical references will. I have learned over the years that communicating concepts clearly and consistently is a corner stone of mentoring and teaching. However, this doesn’t mean one has to use the same words or examples each time. Different frames of reference resonate with different folks.
So about me:
- I love both Star Trek (co-workers frequently call me “Captain”) and Star Wars.
- I’m a comics fan
- Attended the San Diego Comic Con for several years before it blew up in popularity.
- I’m thrilled with what Marvel as done with movies recently.
- I look forward to what DC is about to do (hopefully).
- Halloween is my favorite holiday (closet cosplayer).
- I like to cook and bake. I own a Kitchen Aid Artisan 5-qt Stand mixer and named her RaspberryIce.
- I’m a huge sports fan and generally have sports radio tuned in while driving all of the time. My teams:
- NBA – Lakers
- NFL – Raiders & Cowboys (I grew up with both as far as I can remember – 4-5-ish, dream S Super Bowl for me)
- MLB – Angels & Dodgers (as backwards as baseball is sometimes, I don’t get as much flak for this)
- NHL – Ducks & Kings (yeah I know I’m not a true hockey fan by rooting for both local teams)
- MLS – Galaxy (anyone remember the San Diego Sockers and LA Aztecs? Played youth soccer through high school and remember the old soccer leagues).
- I took Latin in high school for four years and that has sparked an interest in ancient civilizations and history (I like to visit museums and historical sites).
